Summer is at its halfway point, but we are trying not to think about the school (and preschool) year yet. For all those who spend part of their holidays in Warsaw, we present some ideas for alternative family sightseeing and getting to know the capital. Summer in the city of Warsaw does not have to mean boredom and clichés 🙂

Let’s start!

ONE, TWO, THREE … YOU ARE WARSAWIAN

This is an inter-museum holiday game for families with children, taking place for the ninth time. This year it is held under the slogan: “Is Warsaw a woman?” It is enough to register on the website www.razdwatrzywarszawiak.pl (each family receives a Secret Agent Number) and download task cards for free. The game is co-created by 33 museums from Warsaw and its vicinity , divided into four groups. You have to visit at least eight facilities (two from each group) and correctly answer the questions on the task cards. Interesting challenges await all players, and the most persistent will receive rewards!

In our opinion, the action “One, two, three …” is a great idea to promote cultural institutions among families with children and to familiarize children with places such as museums or art galleries. This is our second time playing this game and we have a lot of fun doing it.

The organizer of the game is the Warsaw Uprising Museum.

MICRO TRIPS IN WARSAW GREEN and expeditions with a walker “MICRO TRIPS ON THE VISTULA AND NOT ONLY”

Walks along the green, wild areas of Warsaw are co-organized by the Children in Nature Foundation and the Zieleni Board of the Capital City of Warsaw. Of Warsaw. Micro expeditions were created for families – big and small explorers of nature. This season, participants of Micro-passes will also visit the Moat Park and the slopes of the Citadel, Służewiecka Valley, Żerański and Praski Parks, the Vistula River in Żoliborz and the Wawerski Bend. Details and registration on the website of the Foundation and ZZW,

For all those who fail to take a walk in an organized group, we recommend taking advantage of a few ideas for independent micro-tours, proposed in the excellent publication “ Micro-tours to the Vistula and more “. AHOJ VISTULO!

Summer in Warsaw takes place on the Vistula! Fun and joy prevail on the Boulevards, the Vistula beaches are filled with deckchairs and picnic blankets, the Prague shore explodes with wild greenery and encourages cycling exploration. Ferry crossings, light shows in the Fountain Park and summer cinemas under the stars start. With the map “Ahoj Wisło!” you will not get lost in the maze of attractions that await you in the Vistula District!

The project is aimed primarily at families with children, but the map can be used by all Varsovians who want to get to know their city from a slightly different, Vistula perspective. Over 80 attractions on the Vistula River are marked on the map, which have been supplemented with interesting facts and tasks as well as offers of games and activities for small and large walkers. The colorful map was illustrated by Anna Ladecka.

The paper version of the map is distributed free of charge in selected district offices, information points and many places located on the Vistula River. The map in the electronic version can be downloaded from the website www.ahojwislo.pl

WARSAW LEGEND MAP

How about a sightseeing tour of Warsaw following legends and fairy tales? Walk in the footsteps of Bazyliszek and the devil Chmielorz, look for the house of Wars and Sawa, discover historic streets and mysterious nooks in the Old and New Towns? A great help during such a family walk will be the “Map of Warsaw legends” containing descriptions of preserved and unpreserved places related to Warsaw legends , and supplementing the book “Legendy Warszawskie. Anthology ”(but it can also be treated separately). Both the book and the map are beautifully published by the publishing house of the Museum of Warsaw. The beautiful illustrations by Wojciech Pawliński deserve special attention.

ANCYMAPA. WARSAW FOR CHILDREN

Another interesting proposal for a family walk around Warsaw, including 65 places related to the history and culture of the capital, which are worth showing to children. For adult Varsovians, it can be a nice, alternative proposition for a sentimental trip to places remembered from their own childhood. On the map you will find museums, theaters, monuments, historical buildings and those related to famous Varsovians. The descriptions of all places were written by Sylwia Chutnik, so it is even more worth getting acquainted with Ancymapa! The publishing house of the Warsaw Uprising Museum is responsible for the project.

NIEMAPA – WARSAW

The NIEMAPA series of guides is a very nice proposition for family city tours. We use them during walks around Warsaw, we take them on the road during summer trips around Poland. True to the name and contrary to the format, this release is not a typical map. This is an extraordinary, illustrated guide to the non-obvious and less known attractions of the capital, created with the youngest in mind. The teams from Ma Projekt and Ładnego Halo are responsible for the project.

The offer includes Niemapy from over a dozen Polish cities. We also recommend new products, namely Niemapa Bieszczady and Białowieża Forest.
