Last weekend, we visited Wurzels Pumpkin Patch to pick out our Halloween pumpkins. Wurzels is a brand-new spot located in Ecclesfield, Sheffield. Since I received a few questions about it on Instagram, I thought I’d share our experience here.
For the past four years, we’ve made it a tradition to go pumpkin picking at Farmer Copley’s in Pontefract. The kids absolutely love it, and we’ve always had a great time. This year, we hoped to go again, but due to Covid-related restrictions and booking systems, tickets were limited—and unfortunately, we couldn’t get any. So, we started looking for alternatives…
There are several pumpkin patches around Sheffield, and I might write a separate post listing them all, as I found it quite tricky to get this info when we were searching. But none are as conveniently close to us as Wurzels, just a 10-minute drive away in Ecclesfield. I hadn’t heard of it before, so I was really thankful when someone on Instagram recommended it.
Wurzels doesn’t seem to have a website, but they do have a Facebook page. To visit, you need to book by sending them a message there. Entry is free—you only pay for the pumpkins you pick.
The patch was super easy to find, thanks to a big sign out front. There’s plenty of free parking, and the field wasn’t crowded at all. Hand sanitiser stations were placed around the area, which helped us feel safe during our visit.

There’s a small tent with Halloween decorations that the kids really enjoyed. It’s also where you pay for your pumpkins and can grab a few extras like sweets or Halloween buckets.
Wurzels Pumpkin Patch Review
The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. They even gave each of the kids a free balloon (and replaced one when Max’s popped!). When we first arrived, there were no wheelbarrows available, but they quickly brought one over as soon as one was free.
Wurzels is a small, simple pumpkin patch. Aside from the pumpkins, there isn’t much else—but we actually liked that simplicity. While it doesn’t compete with larger places like Farmer Copley’s, it served its purpose perfectly, and the kids had a blast. We’re just so glad to now have a pumpkin patch so close to home!
